Ar Ratawi natural gas liquids Train 1 project, Iraq
Name and Location
Ar Ratawi natural gas liquids (NGL) Train 1 project, Basrah, Iraq.
Client
Basrah Gas Company (BSG) – a partnership between State-owned Iraq South Gas Company (51%), Shell (44%) and Mitsubishi (5%).
Project Description
About 20-million cubic metres a day is being flared in the South of Iraq. This represents 170 000 barrels of oil equivalent of raw gas each day.
The project will capture, treat and monetise flared gas from the West Qurna-1, Zubair and Rumaila fields. It is expected to add an estimated 500-million standard cubic feet a day to the BSG’s gas production capacity.
The project will significantly minimise gas flaring and make more energy resources available for power and domestic use.
