JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly) - ASX-, LSE- and JSE-listed Aquarius Platinum (AQP) has appointed former Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) director Sonja de Bruyn Sebotsa to its board of directors with effect February 6.

De Bruyn Sebotsa would also assume the role of chairperson of AQP’s local subsidiary Aquarius Platinum South Africa to replace Zwelakhe Mankazana who would continue to serve as a nonexecutive director.

"She [De Bruyn Sebotsa] brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in a wide range of areas of business and I am sure she will make a valuable contribution to the ongoing growth and success of the company," AQP chairperson Nicholas Sibley stated.

De Bruyn Sebotsa is a founder and principal partner of investment, financing and advisory firm Identity Partners. She serves on various boards, including that of Rand Merchant Bank, Discovery, Nestlé South Africa and Amplats.

She was previously an investment banking VP at Deutsche Bank where she worked in the Johannesburg, London and Tokyo offices on mergers and acquisitions, privatisations, initial public offerings, black economic-empowerment transactions and financings.
