JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed Anglo American expected to propose several board member changes at the April 19 annual general meeting.

The group planned to appoint current BP executive VP for corporate business activities Dr Byron Grote as a nonexecutive director and as chairperson of the board’s audit committee.

Grote, who was retiring from BP and who would step down from the BP board in April, was replacing David Challen as chairperson of the committee. Challen would continue to serve as senior independent nonexecutive director for at least another year.

Meanwhile, Jack Thompson was appointed chairperson of the Anlgo American board’s safety and sustainable development committee, as nonexecutive director Peter Woicke retired, effective April 19, owing to other commitments.
