Altech, Bytes merge management into TMT
The management of JSE-listed Allied Electronics’ (Altron’s) newly formed Telecommunications, Multimedia and Information Technology (TMT) division has been selected.
TMT, which was formed following the acquisition and incorporation by Altron of Allied Technologies (Altech), would comprise certain Altech and Bytes Technology Group businesses.
Following the restructure and asset transfers, Altron TMT would have an executive responsible for operations in the Telecoms and Multimedia/Electronics unit and an executive for operations in the Technology unit.
The Telecoms and Multimedia/Electronics unit, housing Altech Netstar, Altech Autopage GSM & ISP, Altech Radio Holdings and Altech Infrastructure Solutions, as well as Altech UEC/Multimedia and Arrow Altech Distribution, would be led by Laurence Savage.
Savage would also retain his current position as Altech COO.
Rob Abraham, while retaining his position as Bytes CEO and Altron board member, would head up the Technology unit, which comprised Bytes Core Business Software, Bytes Managed Solutions, Bytes Payments Solutions, Bytes Healthcare Solutions, Bytes People Solutions, Bytes Document Solutions and Bytes UK.
Meanwhile, Johan Klein has been appointed Altron TMT executive for corporate services, while current Bytes group executive for strategy and operations Andrew Holden would step in as Altron TMT executive for shared services.
The new Altron TMT executive for business development is Tim Ellis, while Altech executive for corporate finance Peter Curle would maintain his position until retirement in May 2014.
Dr John Carstens would remain as Altech CFO, reporting directly to Altron group executive of the TMT division Craig Venter, until May 2014, when Carstens would retire. During this period, Carstens would progressively hand over his responsibilities to Peter Riskowitz.
