Jan Trouw will retire as MD of Alphamin Resources’ 84%-owned operating subsidiary Alphamin Bisie Mining (ABM) on December 31.

He will continue to work with ABM in a part-time consulting role, providing oversight and advisory services pertaining to ABM’s underground mining and technical services activities. This includes regular visits to the Mpama North mine, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Subject to regulatory approval, John Robertson – who has previously worked with Trouw – has been appointed to succeed Trouw as ABM MD.

Robertson is a mining professional with 30 years of experience in countries across Franco and Anglophone Africa, with significant surface and underground mine management experience in both base and precious metals, along with a strong background in compliant resource and reserve exploration techniques, definition, reporting, conversion and extraction.

Robertson has experience in the management of sites containing up to 3 000 personnel and is fluent in French.

Meanwhile, subject to regulatory approval, the Alphamin board has resolved to appoint Trouw as a nonexecutive director of the company, effective December 14, while previous board member Brendon Jones has agreed to resign.
