JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – London-listed African Copper nonexecutive director Roy Corrans has assumed the role of nonexecutive chairperson, succeeding David Rodier, who retired effective January 12.

The group also appointed former permanent secretary in the Botswana Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources Boikobo Paya as a nonexecutive director with immediate effect.

Paya chairs the board of Diamond Trading Company Botswana, is nonexecutive director at Debswana and De Beers and a director of BBKR Productions. He is also a member of the administrative boards of DB Investments SA, Debswana Investments SA and De Beers South Africa.

Botswana-focused African Copper operates the openpit Thakadu copper mine.
