AfDB debars construction company for fraudulent practices
The African Development Bank (AfDB) on Tuesday announced the debarment of Nigeria-based construction company Lutoyilex Construct and its MD Bamidele Obiniyi – also known as Bamidele Abayomi – for a period of 36 months.
An investigation by the bank’s Office of Integrity and Anti-Corruption found that Lutoyilex Construct engaged in fraudulent practices while bidding for a construction contract under Phase 1 of the Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Programme, in Nigeria.
While participating in a tender for the construction of social infrastructure in the Niger state of Nigeria, the company misrepresented its experience in conducting similar construction contracts, the AfDB said.
The debarment renders the company and its MD ineligible to participate in AfDB-financed projects during the debarment period.
The debarment qualifies for cross-debarment by other multilateral development banks under the agreement for mutual recognition of debarment decisions.
