Danfoss Power Solutions and RISE Robotics announced a collaboration agreement to jointly validate and test a key innovation that the companies say has the potential to transform the heavy machinery market through electrification.

The two businesses have signed an agreement to work together to validate the latest electromechanical actuator technology from RISE.

The RISE Cylinder is a fluid-free, electromechanical alternative to hydraulic cylinders for heavy equipment and machinery. It helps address the battery-electrification challenges inherent in hydraulic systems by delivering hydraulic-like forces at unprecedented efficiency, precision, speed and weight.

The technology cost is said to be comparable to a modern hydraulic system but eliminates the fluid, reservoir, pumps, valves, blocks, seals, lines and hoses, as well as the cooling system and maintenance costs.

Additional benefits of RISE technology include:

  • Reduced battery size, cost and recharge time and/or increased runtime.
  • Power source agnostic
  • Fluid-free, eliminating oil spills
  • Provides accurate placement of payloads
  • Low noise

The RISE Cylinder is said to be easily serviceable and is designed to be replaceable in minutes without the need to manage high-pressure fluid.
