Cooperation between The meeco Group and Villa Group extended Malé, Maldives. Expanding on the recent decision regarding the installation of a sun2live installation at Maamigili Airport in Maldives, Villa Group and The meeco Group agreed to increase the initial volume of 1,21 MW up to 4,76 MW in the first step.
The contract negotiations took place at the main office of the Villa Group where the CEO, Mr. Qasim Ibrahim, himself signed the framework of the contract.
The cooperation framework will be the same as agreed previously: meeco will be responsible for the design, engineering, layout, project planning / project execution and the procurement of the components while Villa Group will arrange the shipment and provision of manpower for the implementation of the project with meeco’s supervision. The project cluster includes in total five projects, all in different locations on Maldives, of which the Maamigili airport will be the first one to be realized and thus with the highest priority.
Thanks to this project, The meeco Group is now the biggest project developer in the country, The Villa Group with these projects will increase photovoltaic generation capacity – the green foot print of the islands by almost three times. This project cluster is beneficial for both parties: the Project will support the aim of the Villa Group to reduce its dependency on diesel which means considerably savings on energy costs whilst on the other hand the meeco Group will increase its presence in Maldives and establish local partnerships.
Mr Qasim Ibrahim declares: “ We are happy to improve our energy profile and implement solar technology in the Maldives – together with a reliable Swiss/German company where we trust their know-how and technologies.” Corinna Fischer, who is in charge of the project supervision for meeco adds: “This substantial increase of volume is great news for both of our companies and we are proud having won with the Villa Group a strong partner. Maldives is an important market for us and we are looking forward in developing further projects in this beautiful country.”
