Company Announcement - The third annual Engen Motor Show, is expected to run at the roaring peak of its popularity this year when it takes place from 3 to 5 October, organisers say.

With a record of 75 exhibitors, some 50 000 visitors are expected to flood the 5500m² exhibition space at the Swami Vivekananda Convention Centre for three days of adrenalin-fuelled displays showcasing the latest in automotive design and innovative technology.

“Engen is proud to once again be the headline sponsor of the 2014 edition of the Motor Show Mauritius,” says Joan Njoroge, managing director of Engen Petroleum Mauritius. “When Engen entered Mauritius in 2011 we saw the value in aligning ourselves - as one of the leading oil companies in Sub-Saharan Africa - with the show and promoting motoring on the island. We are happy to see how the show has gone from strength to strength since the commencement of our sponsorship in 2012.”

On show

The Engen Motor Show 2014 will once again demonstrate the latest product developments, designs and trends for motor vehicles, and will include a spread of entertainment.

“The show is a landmark event dedicated to bringing passenger cars, commercial and utility vehicles, motorcycles, pleasure crafts and everything related all under one roof,” says Ms Njoroge. “Over 400 cars were sold at the 2013 show and we predict that the 2014 edition will register an even higher record.”

The show is a great platform for exhibitors to interact with customers, whereas visitors will be treated to world-class entertainment, a chance to keep up with the hottest motoring trends and the opportunity to buy the latest branded merchandise and trendy gadgets at unbeatable prices.

“No single event can provide a better platform for launching new products, promoting sales, raising corporate image, building brand awareness and motivating sales teams,” says Ms Njoroge.

New from Engen

Engen will use the Motor Show as a combined marketing platform for some of its most innovative and iconic offerings, including its advanced fuels and lubricants, and its innovative retail convenience outlets and partnerships.

Specialists will be available to discuss Engen’s commercial offerings for various industries, including agriculture, marine, transport and construction.

In partnership with the MPCB, Engen will take the opportunity offered by this platform to launch its personal 1-Card. Previously the preserve of fleet vehicles, 1-Card will now be available for individuals wishing to have a simple, safe and convenient method of payment – at no additional cost.

“As both a fleet card and a personal card, 1-Card offers fleet operators and personal consumers the low-risk option of cash-less payments. Engen aims to sign up more than 1 000 Engen 1-Card accounts during the event,” says Ms Njoroge.

Engen, who operate 32 service stations on the island, is also set to announce three additional 24-hour retail service stations, including La Preneuse at Riviere, Noire Plaisance near the airport, and an additional service station under construction in the north of the island, bringing the number of fully operational 24/7 service stations to six. This follows the great success of the three - Bagatelle, La Croisette and Curepipe - 24/7 sites already in operation.

“This move also highlights how Engen has transformed the Mauritian petroleum retail market since the brand launched in the country in 2011,” says Ms Njoroge. “At the time there was not a single fully operational 24/7 service station on the island. Engen’s offering of 24/7 petrol stations has ensured that consumers are able to refuel at a time that is convenient to them and has eliminated the worry of running out of fuel outside of traditional operating hours.”

In addition, Engen also offers consumers convenience in the form of the Quickshop, which offers snacks and necessities and is available at all of the 24/7 sites. The company launched its first Quickshop in its maiden year on the island, and to date has opened eight of the stores. “Quickshop continues to make Engen service stations a favourite stopover for motorists on the island,” says Ms Njoroge.

In 2012 Engen opened the first of the popular Corner Bakery franchises at Engen Bagatelle, followed by a second one in 2013 at Engen La Croisette. Three more Corner Bakery outlets are planned for roll out early next year.
