30-year Qld resources vision paper open for public comment
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The Queensland government was inviting public opinion on its proposed 30-year ResourcesQ vision, key elements of which included a new Resources Skills Centre of Excellence and a government ‘one-stop shop’ for the resource industry.
Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Andrew Cripps said the ResourcesQ partnering for prosperity consultation paper delivered on the government’s election promise to grow resources as one of the four pillars of the economy.
“The state government has a strong plan to power-up regional Queensland and grow the state’s four-pillar economy, creating a brighter future for families,” Cripps said.
“The A$37.9-billion sector is already a key pillar of the Queensland economy, contributing one in every four dollars to the economy and supporting one in every five jobs. It will also create jobs of the future for today’s children and it’s important that we have this vision.”
The Minister pointed out that the government was working with industry through the ResourcesQ partnership to ensure that the state had a strong, globally competitive resources sector, allowing all Queenslanders to continue to benefit from the state’s resources wealth.
Public submissions have also been welcomed on the initiative, with feedback accepted until August 4.
