St Barbara has reported an 8% quarter-on-quarter increase in gold production from its New Simberi mine, in Papua New Guinea, for the three months ended June 30, with processed tonnes up 19% and mined grade up 12%. Attributable production of 7 329 oz beat guidance, taking full-year output to 48 395 oz, while the mine, jointly owned with Lingbao Gold Group and Kumul Mineral Holdings, sold gold at A$6 314/oz; St Barbara remains debt-free and unhedged.

Wafi-Golpu, in the permitting phase, is described as a "generational asset" with potential to produce about 180 000 t/y of copper and 250 000 oz/y of gold on a 100% basis, with copper expected to reach about 40% of production within a decade.
