Green River

Green River is a lithium brine project located in Utah, United States. The facility is operated by Anson Resources, an Australian-listed mineral exploration and development company focused on lithium extraction. Green River employs direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology to recover lithium from subsurface brines in the Paradox Basin. The project aims to produce battery-grade lithium compounds for the electric vehicle and energy storage markets. Anson Resources has partnered with South Korean steelmaker POSCO to advance the development of the facility and its processing capabilities. The Green River project is strategically positioned to supply the North American battery materials supply chain, benefiting from proximity to domestic manufacturing hubs and favourable policy support for critical minerals. The facility represents part of the broader effort to establish domestic lithium production capacity in the United States, reducing reliance on imports. Direct lithium extraction technology at Green River offers potential advantages over conventional evaporation methods, including faster processing times and a smaller environmental footprint. The project has progressed through feasibility studies and pilot-scale testing as Anson Resources works towards commercial production.
