Project Description
The battery energy storage system, or BESS, forms part of Bid Window 2 of South Africa’s Battery Energy Storage System Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme, or BESIPPPP.
The 76 MW/304 MWh facility will use lithium/iron/phosphate battery technology.
Once operational, the facility will connect to the Mercury Main transmission substation, strengthening grid stability and supporting the integration of renewable energy.
