Dubai's DMCC and the Botswana Stock Exchange Group signed a memorandum of understanding on July 15, 2026, in Singapore to connect the Botswana Mercantile Exchange with Dubai's trading, finance and logistics ecosystem, creating what is billed as Africa's first sister-hub trading corridor between Dubai and Gaborone. The deal covers diamonds, copper, coal, soda ash, critical minerals and beef, and includes plans for a BMX vault in Gaborone to seek certification under DMCC's Global Good Delivery Standard, along with a diamond-tender link between Okavango Diamond Company and the Dubai Diamond Exchange expected by late 2026.

Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina also discussed the Lesotho-Botswana Water Transfer project, which would supply Gaborone and Lobatse through a 700 km pipeline from Lesotho's Makhaleng river.
