Project Owner/s
Zimplats, a subsidiary of Impala Platinum.

Project Description
Zimplats has been granted a licence to generate 185 MW of its own power.

The project has four implementation phases.

Phase 1 is a 35 MW plant at the Selous Metallurgical Complex.

Phase 2 involves the construction of a 45 MW solar plant. Once commissioned, the plant will supply an additional 110 GWh/y of renewable energy and reduce CO2 emissions by about 69 396 t/y.

Capital Expenditure
The four phases will collectively cost $201-million.

Phase 1 is estimated at $37-million and Phase 2 is estimated at $54-million.

Planned Start/End Date
The last phase of the project is scheduled for completion in the 2027 financial year.

Phase 1 was commissioned in August 2024. Phase 2 is expected to be commissioned in August 2026.

Latest Developments
The project remains on track for technical completion in August this year.
