Project Description
The project involves the installation of 22.3 km cement mortar-lined steel water pipeline from the Xona dam to the Queenstown water treatment works.

The project forms part of the greater Xona dam transfer scheme and bulk water supply project, initiated by the Chris Hani district municipality to augment the Queenstown bulk water supply.

The route for the pipeline includes two above-ground sections – a 900-m-long concrete-encased section traversing the base of the hill opposite the Xona dam and a 100-m-long pipeline going over the mountainous rise. This 100 m section will be supported on concrete plinths. The difference in elevation from the pumpstation to the top of the mountain section is 400 m static.

Esor’s Pipeline Division is on schedule to complete the installation of the pipeline.

The company’s scope of work includes site clearance for the new pipeline, connections to the pumpstation delivery line intake and reservoir intake, as well as road and river crossings.
