The project involves a power station, including:
• nuclear reactors with a combined capacity of 3 900 MW;
• a marine offloading facility;
• a cooling water intake and outfall structure;
• an electricity transmission infrastructure;
• other associated buildings, such as administration offices;
• interim waste and spent-fuel storage facilities;
• access roads; and
• measures and initiatives to manage any impacts during the construction and operation of the new power station.
The new power plant will be built adjacent to the existing Wylfa nuclear plant, which has been operating since January 1961.

Horizon Nuclear Power has signed a major contract with its reactor technology provider and primary contractor, Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy (Hitachi-GE). The front-end engineering and design (Feed) contract sets the framework for design work to be undertaken for the proposed new-build project at Wylfa.
The Feed contract establishes the commercial arrangements under which both companies will draw up site-specific design plans for Horizon’s project at Wylfa.
