Integrated workplace solutions provider Johnson Controls Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) is providing tracking and fleet management company Tracker South Africa with an integrated facilities management service.

This service encompasses cleaning and hygiene, building maintenance, environmental control – such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning – office support, utilities management, boardroom management, parking management and security products and services – such as access control, closed-circuit television and intrusion detection and maintenance.

Johnson Controls is now servicing Tracker’s branches nationally.

The company first started supporting Tracker in 2008, providing disaster recovery in the form of uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) and generators to drive its 24/7 call centre and to ensure that Tracker’s servers stay operational.

Tracker is responsible for more than 700 000 vehicles and, of its 1 200 staff members, 70% are contact centre agents that work from two facilities in Johannesburg.

Johnson Controls’ staff provide on-site building maintenance and its electricians take care of all critical on-site repairs. In addition. Johnson Controls appoints, coordinates and manages all third-party service contractors, ensuring competitive rates.

“Johnson Controls GWS has worked closely with us for more than six years and has become an important part of the Tracker team,” says Tracker South Africa technical director Clement Olivier.

He adds that Johnson Controls’ professional management of Tracker’s facilities, which includes the management of Tracker’s mission-critical servers, enables Tracker to concentrate on its core business.

“What makes Johnson Controls GWS truly excellent, however, is its high level of engagement with us and the quality of service it provides. Johnson Controls remains keyed in to our needs and is focused on optimising benefits to the organisation.”

Johnson Controls GWS facilities manager Thando Ncube adds: “Our company makes use of its global experience and best practices to design, implement and maintain these facilities. We put in place a business and implementation plan, which includes budgets and technical plans, and are driven to meet service levels.”

Olivier notes that Johnson Controls GWS delivers a turnkey solution and that the relationship between Johnson Controls and Tracker is built on a partnership. “How the Johnson Controls GWS facilities manager interfaces with our business is key to understanding and meeting strategic and performance goals. We look forward to continuing our relationship with them,” he concludes.
