NOP Agrowind is an initiative of agricultural entrepreneurs along the Westermeerdijk and Noordermeerdijk, in the North East Polder of the Netherlands.
Project Description
The project involves the construction of 26 wind turbines, with a total power output of 195 MW, in the existing Windpark Noordoostpolder.
The turbines have a tower height of 135 m, a rotor diameter of 127 m and an installed capacity of 7.5 MW each.
Once complete, the 86 wind turbine, 429 MW scheme will be the largest wind farm in the Netherlands.
Value
€420-million.
Duration
The first wind turbine is scheduled to generate power in September.
The project is expected to be completed in 2016.
Latest Developments
A banking consortium comprising the European Investment Bank, the German KfW IPEX-Bank and Rabobank have granted a €350-million loan to NOP Agrowind. The loan will be used to build the wind turbines.
