Name and Location
Wedza Phase 5,5 brownfield expansion, Mimosa platinum mine, Zimbabwe.

Project Description
The project involves the expansion of the Mimosa platinum mine to 200 000 t/m run-of-mine (Rom).

The expansion project, known as Wedza Phase 5,5, follows earlier successful expansion projects at Mimosa.

The latest expansion is the result of the increase in Rom and the subsequent need to increase the crushing and screening, floating and tailings capacity, in line with the overall strategy of Mimosa Mining.

Value
Total capital cost of the expansion is estimated at $15-million and will be funded from retained cash flows.

Duration
Design work on the project started in April 2008. The hot commissioning of the plant was completed in May 2009, with full production achieved.

Client
Mimosa Mining, whose key shareholders are Aquarius Platinum and Impala Platinum.

Latest Developments
A detailed resource evaluation for the Wedza VI expansion is under way, prior to seeking board approval for a final feasibility study.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
DRA (main engineering, procurement and construction management contractor).

On Budget and on Time?
The project will yield savings against budget and was completed one day earlier than planned.
