If you’re in agriculture, construction or landscaping, a high-quality water pump is one of the most useful pieces of equipment you can invest in. Whether accessing water from a nearby source for irrigation, or quickly clearing a flooded area or building, a water pump makes all the difference.

There’s no denying water is essential to life, whether you’re growing, building or beautifying. But moving it from A to B can be a tricky business. That’s when the right water pump makes all the difference.

What makes for a good one and how do you go about choosing the right pump for your needs?

What to consider

To get the right water pump for your type of work, there are two main considerations:

Flow rate: This determines how quickly you can move water from A to B and the power rating is a critical factor here, especially if you need to move large volumes of water.

Maximum discharge capacity: This is a combination of the vertical suction lift and maximum head lift your pump can manage. Vertical suction lift is the measured distance from the water source to the pump. This is important if you’re draining water from below ground level. Maximum head lift is the total height from the source of the water to the destination or drainage point. This provides the power to move water over a distance.

Usability, portability and serviceability

Next on your shopping checklist .

You may well need to move the pump from site to site, so it shouldn’t be too bulky or heavy. Husqvarna water pumps are all portable, with either a robust lifting handle or protective cage for easy lifting.

Nobody has time to spend ten minutes yanking on a starter cord, so an easy-starting engine is a must. Both men and women will find that Husqvarna’s water pumps are designed to fire up easily.

Finally, with a countrywide network of authorised Husqvarna dealers, keeping your pump serviced and in prime condition is that much easier.

With high-spec pump houses and wide variety of power ratings, Husqvarna water pumps will put the water exactly where you want it.
