Name of the Project
Waste-to-energy project.

Location
Gauteng, South Africa.

Project Owner/s
Sustineri Energy, a joint venture between Kibo Energy (65%) and Industrial Green Energy Solutions (35%).

The plant will be built, commissioned and operated for an industrial business park developer.

Project Description
The aim of the project is to generate baseload electricity from a 2.7 MW plastic-to-synthesis gas (syngas) power plant.

The project will use a high-temperature pyrolysis process, whereby selected nonrecyclable plastics will undergo thermal degradation to produce high-quality syngas that will, in turn, feed gas engines to generate electricity and heat energy.

The heat energy generated as a by-product from the gas engines could potentially be sold directly to customers inside the industrial park.

There is also potential to expand the project to about 8 MW of installed capacity in the future.

Potential Job Creation
Not stated.

Capital Expenditure
R180-million.

Planned Start/End Date
Construction is expected to start during the fourth quarter of 2022, with project commissioning expected 11 to 14 months later.

Latest Developments
None stated.
