Project Description
The waste-to-energy power plant will receive about one-million tonnes a year of municipal solid waste and convert it into 100 MW of alternative power, enough to power more than 20 000 households in Abu Dhabi.

Value
The project is estimated at $850-million.

Duration
The plant is expected to begin operations in 2016/17.

Latest Developments
TAQA is expected to release a request for proposals for the selection of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the project by mid-2014.

The EPC contract is expected to be awarded by the first quarter of 2015.
