Wadi Al Hitan was registered on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Site in July 2005 for its hundreds of fossil forms of the whale species Archaeoceti.

The project involves the establishment of the first green road in Wadi Al Hitan of Fayoum nature reserve.
