Project Description
The Venus underground mine, which contains more than 200 000 t of nickel, will be the source of high-grade material that will feed the Leinster nickel operation’s mill and concentrator over the next eight years.

The mine will leverage off existing surface and underground infrastructure already in place at the Leinster operation.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to employ about 150 people during development and then increase to 200 when the mine is operational.

Latest Developments
BHP Nickel West has announced that the development of the Venus ore deposit in the northern goldfields has been approved by the Western Australia state government. This completes all necessary approvals required for the Venus deposit.

The development of access drives to the site has started. High-grade material has been identified at the deposit and continued drilling over the coming months will better define the resource.
