Latest Developments
BP has announced the successful start-up of oil production from new facilities at the Valhall field. Production started on January 26, 2013.
The field is 100% powered from shore by a 294 km direct-current cable from Lista.
It is the first field off Norway’s shores and within BP to use such a power-from-shore system. The Valhall field complex, including the new platform, currently has six separate manned platforms: quarters; drilling; production; wellheads; water injection; and the new combined process and hotel platform.
