Vacuum fused wear plates for industrial fans
Industrial fans operate in particularly aggressive environments, which can lead to abrasion, particle erosion, pitting or dusting corrosion, surface oxidation and intergranular corrosion at high temperatures.
Intense abrasion is a significant problem, especially in coal-fired plants, when particles in the airstream cause friction and the wearing away of a fan’s surface, particularly in the fan blades and scroll housing.
Wall Colmonoy has introduced its ColWear Plates that are said to be ideally suited for high-demand industrial fans, offering improved wear protection, as well as resource and energy efficiencies. The plates are used in the manufacture and repair of industrial fans and are designed to help reduce costly downtime and the replacement of parts.
The company states that its plates are designed to be lighter and more uniform than traditional wear-resistant construction materials. These features are particularly important for the impellers, as it reduces the amount of adjustment required, making the fans more energy efficient and more balanced. Efficiency improvements are aimed at reducing energy expenditure, costs, maintenance and downtime.
Plates can be manufactured with both mild and stainless-steel base materials and higher-grade nickel alloys, materials that ensure that plates withstand higher temperatures and therefore higher rotational speeds, enhancing fan performance.
Wall Colmonoy asserts that its ColWear Plates offer superior wear protection and energy efficiencies as a result of its lightweight construction using Wall Colmonoy’s high performance Colmonoy nickel or Wallex cobalt alloys.
