In an effort to increase the worryingly low numbers at vaccination centers across the country, Cabinet has approved the rollout of vaccination for the age group 18 to 35 from Friday.

The National Coronavirus Command Council has revealed that over nine-million vaccines have been administered in South Africa to date, with over seven-million people partially vaccinated and over four-million fully vaccinated.

In addition, Cabinet is encouraging all unvaccinated people to get their shot and protect themselves.

Cabinet stressed that scientific evidence confirms that vaccinated people stand a better chance of surviving from Covid-19 than unvaccinated people.

“We must all dispel the unfounded and misleading conspiracy theories about the vaccines and choose life by vaccinating,” it said in a statement.

Cabinet has further approved keeping the country under the Risk-Adjusted Alert Level 3 of the national lockdown, as advised by the Ministerial Advisory Committee.

Newly appointed Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla has encouraged government to keep the country under Alert Level 3.

Government has opened more than 3 000 vaccination sites across the country. More information is available at: http://sacoronavirus.co.za/active-vaccination-sites/http://sacoronavirus.co.za/active-vaccination-sites/
