German inspection services group TÜV Rheinland has acquired the UK technical engineering consultancy of Swedish electrification and automation corporation ABB, creating a full-service offering to high-hazard industries.

TÜV Rheinland says the ABB UK technical engineering consultancy, which formed part of ABB’s Energy Industries division, will complement the existing risk, safety and integrity management services of the company.

TÜV Rheinland plans to integrate the acquired consultancy into its Industrial Services and Cybersecurity business in the UK.

ABB’s UK technical engineering consultancy has a network of subcontractors and associates, with 160 people operating from two main sites in the northeast and the northwest of England.

A specialist team of technical experts helps global energy customers improve process safety, equipment and asset integrity, as well as technical design for new and existing industrial plants.

The combined business will create a scalable, broad-based technical engineering provider delivering a full-service offer to high-hazard industries, supporting customers in the energy transition and energy security, TÜV Rheinland explains.

TÜV Rheinland has been operating for 150 years and ranks among the world’s leading testing service providers, with a presence in more than 50 countries.
