JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – TSX-V-listed Tsodilo Resources has started a 3 000 m drilling programme at its wholly-owned BK16 kimberlite project, in the Orapa kimberlite field (OKF), in Botswana.

The programme will entail the drilling of pilot holes on the sites that have been earmarked for a large diameter drilling (LDD) programme, which will result in the drilling of fourteen 24-inch holes to provide some 2 000 t of kimberlite.

To correlate the diamond recoveries directly to the geological model and to ensure that intersection of LDD holes is increased, the miner will probe all LDD sites with the pilot holes.

The pilot holes will take six to seven weeks to complete.

The diamondiferous 6 ha BK16 kimberlite pipe is known to contain rare and valuable Type IIa diamonds.
