JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – NYSE- and TSX-listed Thompson Creek has reported a significant improvement in the daily mill throughput at its Mount Milligan mine, in British Columbia.

The copper and gold operation’s daily mill throughput averaged at 52 457 t between November 1 and 28, with a high of 61 579 t on November 25. This represented a significant improvement on the average daily mill throughput of 44 077 t during the third quarter of 2015. Between November 24 and 28, average daily mill throughput was 59 066 t.

Thompson Creek reported that the mine had moved 156 476 t on November 25, which was the highest daily production since operations started.

President and CEO Jacques Perron said that weekly improvements in mill throughput were seen since the installation of a second semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) discharge screen deck in late October.

“We are very pleased with the progress to date and expect additional improvements through the remainder of the year as the SAG mill liners wear in and the mill operating conditions are optimised,” he commented.
