Company Announcement - The Switch, a leading supplier of megawatt-class electrical drives for wind energy, marine and industrial applications, announced today the official opening of its new global headquarters in Helsinki. The new location will maintain the company’s ability to effectively and efficiently meet the needs of its international stakeholders.
“The main motivation behind the move is to be located in the center of Helsinki, a location which makes meetings with partners, clients and suppliers much more convenient. This new office is an investment in our future and accompanies the strategic plan we have for the continued expansion of The Switch,” commented Jukka-Pekka Mäkinen, President and CEO of The Switch.
This change of premises is yet another positive milestone in the company’s history, happening a year after its acquisition by Yaskawa Electric Corporation, a world leader in motion control and robotics from Japan.
Junji Tsuda, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Yaskawa, who visited The Switch new Helsinki office, commented: “Today, I am pleased to see the great pride that the Switch staff draws from the outstanding technology and applications they develop. This is the sign of a promising future. Yaskawa is celebrating our 100th anniversary this year. Yaskawa Group and The Switch have many things in common. The beginning of Yaskawa was manufacturing motors and developing applications. And motors and applications are also the focus of The Switch. By working together, we aim to be a global number one in all of our chosen application areas.”
