Project Description
The project involves the construction of an LNG import terminal, off the shore of the eastern port city of Tema.

The terminal will supply gas directly to the State-operated Volta River Authority to increase power generation.

The offshore floating storage and gasification unit will have the capacity to receive, store, regasify and deliver more than 1.75-million tonnes of LNG a year.

It will use a state-of-the art, purpose-built-dedicated floating LNG storage and regasification unit moored offshore, with associated subsea and onshore pipeline networks to deliver the natural gas to power generators in Tema.

Value
The cost of the project is estimated at $500-million.

Duration
The project is expected to be operating by mid-2016.

Latest Developments
Quantum Power Ghana Gas has signed a collaboration agreement, with Golar LNG.

According to the agreement should the project reach a final investment decision, Golar will provide the project with the required floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), as well as certain technical, engineering, design and construction services.
