New software will support the delivery of Architect Engineering Services to EPC Contractors of power plant projects and will help avoid costly on-site inaccuracies.

AVEVA announced today that Technovision (Technovision Müh. Dan. Ve Dış. Tic. A.S.), the Engineering Subsidiary of Turkey’s EPC Contractor, Calik Enerji, has implemented AVEVA’s Integrated Engineering & Design solution. The AVEVA software enables greater design accuracy and optimum use of skilled engineering man hours on projects. This has enabled Technovision to standardise its design engineering practices, and to benefit from higher quality engineering deliverables and increased project efficiency.

Any design errors at a project’s FEED stage can, if not quickly identified and corrected, waste considerable time and money in rework during on-site construction. Commonly encountered problems are inaccurate cable and pipe lengths, as well as physical clashes.

’At Technovision we provide the design and engineering services for large and complex power plant projects,’ explained Mr. B. D. Banerjee, Technical Deputy Managing Director of Technovision. ‘Any delay or rework in construction will have a significant impact on completion time and cost overrun to our client, Calik Enerji. By using an integrated approach we benefit in several ways from greater project control and timely actions. Our engineers have better visibility of the overall design and can review and improve design continually from the earliest stage of the project. Deliverables are more accurate and consistent across all the engineering and design disciplines, which not only reduces work in the design office but also reduces overall project cost and time.’

‘More and more Design & Engineering companies like Technovision, as well as many EPC companies, are using AVEVA’s IE&D solution to fully benefit from an integrated approach to their engineering projects,’ said Evgeny Fedotov, Senior Vice President – EPC Sales, AVEVA. ‘High-quality design information not only avoids immediate problems, such as on-site rework, but also delivers value throughout the asset life cycle, for example when compiling accurate brownfield information for plant modifications and revamps. Becoming ‘data savvy’ now is the best way to save time and cost in the long term.’

Technovision has plans to use AVEVA’s IE&D solutions in all of its projects, to achieve its objectives of optimum engineering schedules, accurate and cost-effective design, and the elimination of clashes, errors and omissions that create costly surprises during construction.
