Engineering News caught up with automotive manufacturer Suzuki Auto South Africa brand marketing manager Brendon Carpenter following Nampo 2025, in Bothaville, where the company showcased its continued momentum in the South African market and strong connection with rural and agricultural communities.

Having achieved record-breaking dealer sales in April, Suzuki surpassed 300 000 customers nationally. Carpenter attributes the brand’s growth to its reputation for reliability, affordability and practicality, qualities that resonate strongly in South Africa’s rural and farming regions.

Vehicles, such as the Suzuki Jimny have become favourites in agricultural circles, thanks to their off-road capability and rugged design. Meanwhile, the newly launched Suzuki Dzire offers a budget-friendly, fuel-efficient solution for everyday mobility, particularly in smaller towns and farming communities where reliability is key.

Carpenter emphasises that events such as Nampo are essential for building relationships beyond the showroom, as it gives the brand direct access to customers who rely on their vehicles for business and family life in tough conditions.
