This year’s 44th annual SAPICS Conference will be a milestone one as Africa’s leading event for supply chain professionals will once again be an in-person gathering.

“The 2022 SAPICS Conference, which takes place at Century City Conference Centre, Cape Town, from 12 to 15 June 2022, is a not-to-be-missed, very special, celebratory event. We are excited to be able to host a face-to-face event again after two virtual SAPICS Conferences due to the pandemic,” says MJ Schoemaker, president of SAPICS (The Professional Body for Supply Chain Management). She notes that there may still be some online elements.

“We know that everyone is eager to connect with their peers and colleagues after all the virtual meetings, webinars, lockdowns and restrictions around the world. In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, there are so many stories to tell and learnings to share. It is the supply chain management profession that helped to keep essential goods flowing and essential services operational while the world worked together to fight the pandemic. COVID-19 put supply chains and supply chain management into the spotlight like never before, and the 2022 SAPICS Conference will give the supply chain community a vital chance to meet up face-to-face again, to mingle, learn, share knowledge, commemorate and celebrate.

“The powerful networking element of the SAPICS Conference has always set it apart and made this event a highlight on the supply chain profession’s calendar. This year, it will be more important than ever before,” Schoemaker asserts.

“The world is never going to be the same, but the lessons that were learnt, the new knowledge gained, and the new tools and technologies that were leveraged must be shared, to ensure that we are ready and better positioned to fight the next threat. This may already be upon us as the Russia Ukraine conflict will undoubtedly impact global supply chains. Supply chain disruption pales in comparison to the tragic loss of human life, but supply risk and resilience must be a priority for all organisations. This important topic will be on the agenda at the 2022 SAPICS Conference.”

"Early birds” have until 31 March 2022 to quality for discounted fees for the conference. The "Early Bird" registration option provides delegates with a substantial discount on their fees if they book their place at the 2022 conference before this offer closes.

“Recognising the financial challenges facing many organisations right now, SAPICS has gone back in time for this year’s conference, and delegates will notice that the registration fees are the same as they were in 2018,” Schoemaker concludes.
