Project Description
The project involves the construction of a natural-gas-fuelled, combined-cycle power plant in Loudoun County, Virginia.
The 778 MW facility with advanced emissions-control technology, will be one of the cleanest and most efficient plants in the US.
The generating station will use reclaimed municipal wastewater from Leesburg to cool the plant, conserving the Commonwealth’s natural supply of drinking water.
Further, the facility will be built along existing transmission lines, eliminating the need for additional power lines that would otherwise be required to import power from outside Loudoun County.

Latest Developments
A consortium comprising Bechtel and Siemens has been awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to build the power plant.
Bechtel will provide project management, engineering, procurement, construction and start-up services, while Siemens will provide the power-island package, including the natural gas and steam turbines, generators, and waste-heat-recovery boilers.
