Supplier of steel products NJR Steel Reinforcing officially launched its fully automated factory in Northlands Industrial Park, Gauteng, last month, during which the facilities and the latest technology in steel reinforcing were introduced.

“Our purpose-made production facility is fitted with the latest reinforcing steel conversion machinery. The imported machinery provides high-speed output and accuracy. This allows NJR Steel Reinforcing to supply major contracts while maintaining, effectively and expertly, smaller construction companies and owner builders,” says NJR Steel Reinforcing branch manager Patrick van Gool.

The purpose-made, state-of-the-art reinforcing processing machinery was manufactured by reinforcement equipment provider Schnell in Italy, and NJR Steel Reinforcing has spent a considerable amount of capital to acquire the state-of-the art machinery.

“The machines at NJR’s new facility are different from the standard machines that are currently on the market. The new machines are computer-controlled and equipped with the latest technology in processing, making them market leaders,” explains Van Gool.

He further notes that the machines can increase the company’s productivity output through the technology they offer.

“Owing to the advanced design, electronics and computer base, we can send jobs to the machines through a network and the machine operators can select the desired jobs from the on-board computers. This enables the company to achieve quick and accurate turnaround times in the production of steel, which bodes well for project completion.”

NJR Steel Reinforcing has also increased its structural steel manufacturing capabilities to include factory portal frames, sheeting installation and manufacture, as well as the installation and commissioning of certified overhead and portal cranes to specifications.

NJR Steel Reinforcing hopes that its investment in the machinery will ultimately result in increased market share and ensure that it becomes a market leader as an independent reinforcing company supplying South Africa. It also aims to expand its footprint in Africa.

In addition to its focus on steel, NJR Steel Reinforcing is also involved in supporting a nonprofit organisation, Seeds of Africa, which promotes community upliftment through skills development and enterprise development initiatives.
