Project Description
The project involves the construction of the Stafford’s Post interchange on the N2 highway between Kokstad and Harding, in KwaZulu-Natal.

It includes the upgrade of the existing T-junction of the N2 and R56 roads, as well as the realignment and widening of both roads and the construction of a new road-over-road bridge.

New side-drainage channels, inlets, outlets and associated erosion-protection works will be completed, in conjunction with the construction of a new curb, channels and pipe culverts.

Road furniture will be upgraded and the road reserve will be fenced, while new lay-bys, walkway facilities and roads will be constructed.

Value
The project is valued at about R129.7-million.

Duration
The project is expected to be completed in December 2014.

Latest Developments
Construction of the Stafford’s Post interchange started in April.

The construction is being undertaken by Group Five Coastal, with the works performed being monitored by the Nathoo Mbenyane Engineers/DEC joint venture.
