Project Description
The project aims to refurbish, consolidate and relaunch the Southern Sun Elangeni and Southern Sun North Beach hotels as one complex – the Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani complex.

The first phase of the complex will consist of the total refurbishment of the Maharani tower, including the bedrooms, core infrastructure, the conference centre and public areas; new food and beverage facilities in the Elangeni tower; the refurbishment of the Porte Cochère; and the renovation of the external building facades.

Phase 2 will include the construction of The Camelot Spa, which will feature five treatment rooms, a Himalayan salt room and a double-treatment room, with a hydrotherapy bath in the Elangeni tower.

The historic Raffles area is being trans-formed into a multipurpose venue on top of the Maharani tower. The final phase of the project will include a refurbishment of the Elangeni rooms and additional public areas. Once the complex is completed, it will comprise 734 bedrooms, two gyms, four swimming pools, 17 meeting and conference rooms, two fully equipped business centres and 11 restaurants and bars.

Duration
Phase 1 is expected to be completed in May this year.

The second phase will be completed in the third quarter of 2013.
