Name of the Project
Solem I and II solar photovoltaic (PV) projects.

Location
The projects will be built on 15 privately owned and leased lots in the El Llano municipality of Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Client
Cubico Sustainable Investments (70%) and Alten RE Developments America (30%).

Project Description
The project includes the construction and operation of the Solem I (180 MWp) and Solem II (168 MWp) greenfield PV power plants, with total installed capacity of 290 MW, two step-up substations and one manoeuvre substation, and a 6.6 km power transmission line connecting the substations to the national grid. 

Both project will use crystalline silicon on single-axis trackers.

The manoeuvre substation will later be handed over to the State-owned power utility Comisión Federal de Electricidad.

The cost of the project is estimated at $311-million.

Duration
Both projects are expected to start construction in the first half of 2017.

Solem I is expected to come into operation in September 2018 and Solem II in June 2019.

Latest Developments
The International Finance Corporation is considering providing loans for up to $7-million to support the construction of the projects.
