PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Site work has started at the Keysbrook mineral sands project, in Western Australia, owner MZI Resources reported on Thursday.

The first phase of work being undertaken by GR Engineering would focus on the access road to the plant site, followed by the start of earthworks. Following this, the construction of the heavy minerals concentrator and associated infrastructure would be completed, allowing production to start in the December quarter.

“The mobilisation of construction contractors to the Keysbrook mine and Doral site is a significant step in the development of the project,” said MD Trevor Matthews.

The Keysbrook project would require a capital investment of A$61.9-million and was slated to produce 91 000 t/y of product from 110 000 t/y of dry heavy mineral concentrate, over a five-and-a-half-year mine life.
