Project Description
A strong business case has been confirmed for Sibanye’s proposed solar PV projects at its South African PGMs operations.

The three projects, on suitable sites adjacent to Sibanye’s operations, comprise an 80 MW project at the Rustenburg operation, a 65 MW project at the Marikana K4 operation and a 30 MW project at the Marikana smelter and base metal refinery.

Capital Expenditure
Off balance sheet – the developer will be responsible for the capital and management of the facilities, with offtake agreements secured with SSW.

Planned Start/End Date
Commercial operation is targeted for early 2025.

Latest Developments
A request for proposal process to appoint project developers for three separate sites will be held in the second half of 2022.
