Project Description
The project entails the construction of one of the largest reverse osmosis desalination plants in the world, with a production capacity of 450 000 m3/d.

The plant will incorporate a solar photovoltaic facility to reduce power consumption.

The project will be developed under a 25-year build, own, operate (BOO) contract scheme.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create about 700 jobs from the start of construction until commissioning of the plant.

The project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Latest Developments
ACCIONA, together with Marubeni Corporation, Almar and Rawafid Alhadarah Holding Co, has achieved financial close for the project for a total value of more than $600-million in May 2019.
