Project Description
The project involves the laying of a  260 km subsea cable from Shetland to Noss Head, in Caithness, connecting Shetland to the UK’s electricity transmission system for the first time.

The project includes a 320/132 kV substation and a HVDC convertor station at Upper Kergord of Shetland.

An HVDC switching station will also be necessary to facilitate connection to the existing transmission system at Noss Head.

The project is expected to be completed by 2024.
