PERTH (miningweekly.com) – A scoping study into the Burbanks gold project, in Western Australia, has confirmed that some 145 700 oz of gold could be recovered from an underground operation.

The scoping study was based on a Joint Ore Reserves Committee compliant mineral resource of 1.2-million tonnes, grading at 3.7 g/t gold.

ASX-listed Barra Resources on Monday said that the study reinforced the value of the company’s exploration strategy, which saw drilling step out and test virgin ground along the 800 m strike length between the two high-grade and historically productive underground gold mines at Burbanks.

“We are pleased to have completed this scoping study which not only identifies the potential to realise cash flow from underground mining, but more importantly it reinforces the potential economic nature of our recent gold discoveries at Burbanks, which remains open in all directions and vastly under-explored at depth,” said Barra MD and CEO Sean Gregory.

“We will be applying our recently advanced geological and economic understanding of the deposits to further drilling the Main Lode, scheduled to begin next month.”
