Schauenburg Systems, as part of the Schauenburg International–Africa Group, acknowledges Corporate Social Responsibility as an important component of its corporate citizenship and as such believes in the sustainable development of previously disadvantaged individuals and communities in South Africa. Their main focus is on projects and initiatives in the areas of education, training and skills development.

This year, Schauenburg Systems decided to support “The People for Ukajede Foundation” with a donation of R520, 000. These funds will be used by “The People for The Ukajede Foundation” to assist underprivileged black children attending crèches, primary and secondary schools in local informal settlements.

“The People for Ukajede Foundation” was established in 2004 which was initially started by the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg. The Foundation is registered as a Non-Profit Organization. Ukajede is an acronym for the five informal settlements located on the East Rand, namely ULANA, KANANA, ANGELO, JERUSALEM & DELMORE.

The Foundation focuses on supporting 8 crèches in the area of Ukajede, and the main aims of the project include:

To provide food to the schools in order for approximately 570 children to receive at least one cooked meal daily

To assist in improving the learning environment for children by helping with infrastructure, maintenance projects and providing learning materials, stationery, toys

To provide financial assistance to primary and secondary children who otherwise would not be able to obtain an education

To assist with coordinating training of teachers with service providers.

Chantal Churchill, Corporate Communications Manager at Schauenburg said, “We are happy that we are able to contribute to Foundations such as Ukajede, in providing much needed funding for such a valuable cause.”

Dieter Kovar, CEO of the Schauenburg International – Africa Group, expressed his thoughts, “Education and Training is one of our important pillars in our company policy.  To be able to assist communities in close proximity from our manufacturing facility and head office, is part of our Mission. Already in 2017, we funded the building of two classrooms for a primary school in neighbouring Cresslawn for children with learning disabilities.”

Joachim Simon, Chief Financial Officer, Schauenburg International Group, emphasised the importance of supporting local communities, “It is Schauenburg’s philosophy to provide through our corporate social responsibility programs ways to uplift communities through systematic education.”

The Schauenburg Group in South Africa is committed to transformation and regards Corporate Social Responsibility as a component of its business practice. The Group also established the Schauenburg Education Trust in 2015, by providing young black students with the opportunity to further their studies in the fields of Economics, Electronics and Engineering.
