The Samarang field is located in the south China Sea off the coast of Sabah, East Malaysia, about 72 km north-west of the Labuan gas terminal. Part of the field lies underneath a shallow reef with a water depth of 9 m.

Client
Petronas Carigali, a wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas.

Project Description
The Phase 2 redevelopment work comprises the remaining infill and injector drilling, as well as the facility scope required for EOR.

This will include the installation of three new platforms; a revisit to four drilling platforms, the upgrades of drilling jackets, and of production facilities on all three processing hubs.

Petronas has awarded Technip a subsea contract for the Samarang redevelopment project.

Technip will manage the engineering, supply, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of flexible pipelines, with diameters ranging from 4″ to 6″, as well as EPCIC of associated platform I-tubes.

The contract is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2017.
