Project Description
The Salvokop Precinct Development was gazetted as a Strategic Integrated Project in May 2020, as part of the Infrastructure Investment Plan approved by Cabinet.

The development includes the construction of five national government client departments buildings.

The precinct will be developed in three phases.

Phase 1 (A and B) includes the installation of the bulk and internal infrastructure services and development of the four public–private partnership head office buildings.

Phases 2 and 3 involve the development of the business erven by the private sector and the mixed-income residential component respectively.

Potential Job Creation
Phase 1 will create an estimated 3 215 jobs during its construction.

Capital Expenditure
The bulk and electrical infrastructure works amount to R377.3-million.

Planned Start/End Date
The bulk infrastructure works started in October 2021 and are expected to be completed by October 2023.

Latest Developments
The construction of Phase 1A – bulk civil and internal engineering works – is under way, with several local residents and small-, micro- and medium-sized enterprises from the nearby community already employed on the project.

Preparation is under way for the construction of new roads, electrical substations, stormwater trenches and other bulk infrastructure works, including the construction of a 30 Mℓ reservoir at Freedom Park.
